You might say that William "Billco" Coker was born to be a barber. Some might even say he fell from barber heaven. Well either of those statement are true.
The truth of the matter is at the age of 12 he was being molded to be an entrepreneur. Sitting under his grandmother who owned several businesses book store, wig shop, herbal products etc..... He watched with a careful eye. He was her personal assitant not evening knowing he was in business school. He studied under his "mentor" for several years learning the biggest lesson in business is connecting with people.
As the owner of Billco Barbershop (voted #1 barbershop in lake county for 4 years) he has taken those skills and applied them in the barber industry. What better business is there to have when you know how to connect with people? Currently he owns several businesses that are very successful. He opened his 1st business at the age of 21 which was a 3 chair barbershop. With all the hard work and knowledge that business grew within two years expanding to a 9 chair shop. Now Billco Barbershop is the premier barber business in the city of Gary. Currently William is running a 15 chair barbershop not to mention he manages a barbershop of 6 barbers for his church at market city flea-market "Kingdom KUTTS".
My Story
A visionary is another aspect that he possess. In 1994 he started Billco Productions to help expose the gifts and talents of the up and coming barbers and stylist in the city. In September of 94 he had his 1st hair show which was held at the Gary convention center. Billco productions has held over 12 shows that has exposed all local talent in 219 area.
William has provided his gifts and talents for the biggest clipper company in the world. Isadore Adams the regional director for WAHL noticed Billco and started mentoring him. WAHL clipper company hires him for their national hair cutting competitions as the facilitator of the show. He also is a platform artist and a sales rep for the company. He has been working with WAHL for the past 5 years.
William has lived a blessed and adventurous life. Sharing this gift of barbering with some of the greatest in the industry G-Whiz,MLB,Big Bad D, Cool-C, Louis Robb, the list goes on. He has worked at numerous hair shows and is well known in the community and the industry. He currently lives in Houston Tx where he is on a quest to open his 1st Barber College. He travels back to Indiana every month to maintain Billco Barbershop. He is also a Royal Blaque brand ambassador.
